Twitter expands video upload limit for premium subscribers to 2 hours and 8GB file size
Twitter has announced a significant enhancement to its premium subscription service, Twitter Blue. Subscribers now have the ability to upload videos up to two hours in length, with a maximum file size of 8GB, while maintaining a video quality of 1080p.
This latest update represents a doubling of the previous video upload limit, which stood at one hour and 2GB of files. The decision aims to cater to a broader range of content creators, including podcasters and filmmakers, who can now share longer-form videos with their audience.
While the extended video upload feature is available to iOS users directly within the mobile app, Android users will still need to utilize a browser to access this functionality. Twitter, however, assures that all users, whether subscribed to the premium service or not, will be able to view these longer videos.
Twitter’s move to enhance its video capabilities aligns with Elon Musk’s vision of transforming the platform into an “everything app” and competing with other social media giants like YouTube. In December of last year, Musk initially increased the video upload limit to one hour, accompanied by an expanded character limit of 10,000 for Twitter Blue subscribers.
In a recent development, Musk has appointed Linda Yaccarino as the CEO, assuming responsibilities as the “CTO overseeing product, software & sysops.” This strategic leadership change highlights Musk’s commitment to driving innovation and further expanding Twitter’s functionality and offerings.
With its extended video upload feature, Twitter Blue aims to provide a more immersive and engaging experience for content creators and viewers alike. As the platform continues to evolve, it seeks to solidify its position as a versatile hub for diverse forms of multimedia content.
