Startup World Cup Pakistan National Final was organized at Lahore Garrison University where Federal Minister for Science and Technology, Mr. Chaudhry Fawad Hussain was the Chief Guest. Maj Gen Obaid Bin Zakria, HI(M), Vice-Chancellor, Lahore Garrison University welcomed the Chief Guest and shared his vision of building $500 Billion Innovation Economy in Pakistan by 2030.

Chief Guest shared his vision of transforming Ministry for Science and Technology through Innovation & Entrepreneurship and contributing towards economic uplift of Pakistan. Earlier this year when COVID started in Pakistan, we were importing Healthcare Equipment & PPEs and within Six Months of coordinated efforts at Ministry for Science and Technology, Pakistan is exporting Masks & PPEs now – Mr. Chaudhry Fawad Hussain shared with the audience.
Maj Gen Obaid Bin Zakria, HI(M), Vice-Chancellor, Lahore Garrison University in his address shared the vision of transforming Lahore Garrison University into leading Entrepreneurial University of Pakistan. The university will produce “job givers not job seekers”. Lahore Garrison University ranks 25th amongst the 69 universities, that have been awarded the ORIC (Office of Research Innovation and Commercialization) by HEC, in a short period of time.
He praised the achievements of his team and faculty at LGU, collaborators and students in letting the university enter the ‘Y’ Category. LGU produces almost 500 research papers every year under the supervision of more than 65 PhDs. Maj Gen Obaid Bin Zakria highlighted the international achievements of LGU, at the Microsoft Imagine Cup, Hult Prize, and Huawei.
Imran Jattala, Director Innovation, Lahore Garrison University and Co-Founder Center for Global Innovators (CGI) in his speech shared the story of World’s First Known University at Taxila and Stanford University. Universities can play a larger than life role and can transform the future of countries.
Federal Minister for Science and Technology congratulated the Startup Pakistan National Winner Teams Aether, and STech.ai. These two teams will represent Pakistan in Silicon Valley USA in May 2021.
