In an effort to celebrate the 70 year-long diplomatic ties with China, the State Bank of Pakistan launched a commemorative coin worth Rs 70.  The coin was presented by Dr. Reza Baqir to the Chinese Ambassador during a ceremony held on the 10th of June in the capital city of Pakistan.

The Foreign Minister, Shah Mehmood Qureshi was invited as the Chief Guest to the ceremony. He also thanked the visionary leadership of China under their current President, Xi Jinping for his investment in the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). The Foreign Minister further added that relations with China have been the cornerstone of Pakistan’s foreign policy.

While addressing the ceremony he said,

“The coin’s denomination has been kept at 70 Rupees which is an apt reflection of the 70 years of our all-weather, time-tested, and brotherly relationship.”

History of Pak-China Relationship

The Pak-China relationship was established on May 21, 1951 – only a couple of years after the establishment of Pakistan. Since then the two countries have enjoyed strong diplomatic ties with each other. It is worth mentioning that the Pak-China bond goes way back to centuries-old trade relationships. The relationship has strengthened over the years with the CPEC project at its core. The relationship between the two countries is labeled as “All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership” and we couldn’t agree more.
