Rs. 31B Budget Allocated to Set-up IT Park in Karachi

In a recent development, it has been decided by the federal government to allocate a budget of  Rs. 31 billion for the development of an Information Technology Park in Karachi. The IT Park will provide IT-based companies with services and facilities that can help them grow even more.

A senior official at the Ministry of Information Technology stated,

“This facility is the part of government strategy to develop IT zones and software parks besides setting up purpose-built software technology parks in major cities of the country.”

He also added that these IT parks and zones are a great way to accelerate digitization, growth, and innovation. Moreover, they will eventually lead to jobs in the IT sector. It has been estimated that the park would provide employment to more than 5000 individuals.

The park which is spread on an area of 106,449 square meters would take at least 2-3 years to complete. It will have the space to accommodate more than 200 IT companies and would help provide IT-based services in the IT sector.
