A Regional Training Course on Facilitating Trade for Food Security was held in Rabat, Morocco, from May 30th to June 3rd, 2022. The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations organized the event.
FAO is a United Nations agency that leads international efforts to end hunger. The goal is to achieve universal food security, As well as ensure that people have regular access to enough high-quality food to live active and healthy lives.
Ending hunger and malnutrition by 2030 is a fundamental goal of the Sustainable Development Goals, and trade is one way to achieve it. Global commerce in agricultural goods is likely to rise in the future decades as consumption and production patterns continue to develop. While trade will have a growing impact on the scope. As well as Food security in all parts of the world. However, the challenge, is to assure food security while also facilitating trade.

Mr. Saifullah Khan, a member of FAO’s NENA (Near East and North Africa) Regional Network of Experts on Agriculture Trade (RNE-AT). The course participants included individuals from 15 countries in the NENA region. Mr. Saifullah Khan participated in the above training course as a speaker. And conducted interventions on various crucial topics.

He highlighted the significance of Managing Imports in the NENA region. He focused on the imports of food. Moreover, his presentation mainly revolved around the Imports of Grains from Major Supply Sources.

Furthermore, he moderated a session on the overview of Food Security in the NENA Region. In addition, he put emphasis to focus on imports and drew attention to the vulnerabilities of the import sector.

Mr. Saifullah Khan developed an issue paper on “Ensuring Food Security Through Use of Big Data & Analytics.” Additionally, during the meeting of RNE-AT, a presentation was delivered on the issue paper. Where he shed light on the transformation of food security with the help of data and analytics.
