PTCL Group, NOWPDP Launch Justuju Internship Program For Persons With Disabilities

PTCL Group and NOWPDP have recently signed an MoU to launch the internship program, Justuju. The program is focused on the professional development of the PWD’s which will be focused on training, enlightening, and grooming them for their professional endeavors. There will be a total of 20 interns inducted for the process who will get a chance to intern at the PTCL and Ufone offices in the major cities of Pakistan including Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad.

Syed Mazhar Hussain (Group Chief Human Resource Officer, PTCL& Ufone) was present on behalf of PTCL & Ufone. Whereas, Omair Ahmed ( Executive Director, NOWPDP) was present on behalf of NOWPDP to sign the MoU at the PTCL Islamabad headquarters.

Syed Mazhar Hussain spoke at the signing ceremony saying,

“We are glad to partner with NOWPDP for Justuju Internship Program through which PTCL Group endeavors to enable PWDs in honing their skills so that they can be well-equipped for today’s competitive work environment. PTCL and Ufone being national organizations, endorse and practice inclusivity, where everyone can contribute towards business growth and the country’s economy.”

Omair Ahmed, Executive Director, NOWPDP, also spoke at the occasion,

“We are glad to join hands with PTCL and Ufone to enable and empower Persons With Disabilities through special training in digital technology. We strongly believe in the strength and ability of these people to make a difference for themselves and society.”

He also added,

“We are glad that our collaboration with PTCL and Ufone will provide them the support and encouragement they need to rewrite their destiny. We are eager to carry forward this collaboration to make a significant impact on this marginalized social group.”

The interns of the Justuju program will be working under direct guidance from PTCL and Ufone team members and will be getting direct mentorship from them. PTCL Group has for long committed itself to promote diversity in their work culture to provide everyone in the society with an equal opportunity.

In a recent development, The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT) has planned to launch a project which is aimed to provide smartphones that are with Rs. 8,000 and Rs. 12,000. The purpose is to provide smartphones to the masses so that they all have access to the digital world and the increasing “Digital Divide” can be overcome.

The news of the launch came soon after the Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication (ITT), Syed Amin Ul Haque, inaugurated the Software Technology Park at Hazara University, Mansehra. There were several senior officials who were present at the ceremony including Vice-Chancellor Dr. Jamil Ahmed, Chief Executive of Ignite Asim Shehryar, and several students of the Hazara University were also present at the ceremony.

There is a space of 12, 000 square feet that have been allotted to Haraza University. According to Minister Haque who was present at the ceremony, there will be a National Incubation Center that will also be set up at the Hazara University. He also said that it is important to take such initiatives for the bright future of the people of Hazara.
