5G Launch in Pakistan is not a distant reality anymore. Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has announced the strategic roadmap to be followed for the launch of 5G technology in Pakistan. The federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication, Syed Amin Ul Haque, announced this development during a meeting of the Digital Cooperation Organization.

He also said that the government is trying to reduce the digital divide by focusing on empowering the youth and giving everyone an equal opportunity. The Minister also added that there are many reforms that have been recently introduced by the government which will further help to create a better environment for the digital ecosystem. The pandemic has also been a contributor to further enhancing the digital landscape of Pakistan.
The Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO) had held the virtual meeting and had invited Ministers from seven member countries to discuss the role of the organization to help build a digital environment from which maximum people can benefit. According to Syed Amin Ul Haque,
“Digital Cooperation Organization has emerged as one of the most promising collaborative forums to promote digital partnerships among like-minded countries”
He further added,
“Being a founding member of DCO, the Government of Pakistan fully endorses that DCO is actively pursuing its vision of achieving social prosperity and growth of the digital economy by unifying efforts to advance the digital transformation agenda and promote common interests of the member states”
Minister Haque also emphasized the role played by Prime Minister Imran Khan to further improve the digital infrastructure of the country and promote innovation which has had an extremely favorable impact on the foreign investments received from outside Pakistan.
