Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) introduces “Lost & Stolen Device System (LSDS)”; an automated system to lodge complaints for blocking lost, stolen and/or snatched phones within 24 hours after necessary verification. Following system is integrated with PTA’s pre-existing Device Identification, Registration and Blocking System (DIRBS).
“Complainants can easily file a request with PTA for blocking the IMEI of such handset to prevent it from potential misuse,” the PTA spokesperson said in a statement.
A individual can block his/her phone by following these steps:
- Go to PTA Online Complaint Management System (www.pta.gov.pk)
- Register your complaint by going to online complaint option.
- Fill the available with relevant information.
- After the form completion, a reference number will be generated that can be used to follow up on the complaint
- For further questions and/or information regarding your complaint you can call on PTA Consumer Centre at 0800-55055 (Toll Free) 9 am – 9 pm (daily)
In case of recovered phone, the person has to follow same process to unblock the phone:
- Go to PTA Online Complaint Management System (www.pta.gov.pk)
- Mention their reference number with related details (as requested by portal).
- The person then receive a SMS by PTA, once his/her phone is unblocked.
Currently, people block their lost, stolen and snatched mobile phones through 1) PTA Toll Free Number, 2) Email: imei@pta.gov.pk or 3) CPLC. However with the deployment of PTA’s online compliant system, all other mediums would be disable.
