PM Imran Khan’s “YES” Scheme – Good News for Pakistani Youth

As soon PM Imran Khan assumed office as Prime Minister he revealed an agenda for his first 100 days at the office. Among other proposals, Mr. Khan proposed a Kamyab Jawan Program that promised the Pakistan youth career stability in the shape of jobs and businesses.

The Youth Entrepreneurship Scheme (YES) is also part of the Kamyab Jawan Program that provides credit. The program which was initially announced in 2019 could not be executed due to obstacles faced by the banking sector of Pakistan. However. the banking sector has now approved the scheme and will be the one to implement the scheme.

The goal behind the YES scheme is to give young men and women the capital to transform their ideas into reality. The program especially focuses on supporting small businesses. Moreover, to help women-led startups over 25% of loans will be provided to the women entrepreneurs. YES, the scheme will initially be implemented by state-owned banks like the National Bank of Pakistan, Bank of Khyber, and Bank of Punjab.
