The Federal Information Minister Chaudhry Fawad Hussain announced on Tuesday that the effort to set up Pakistan’s first Media Technology University is underway. The University will be the first of its kind and will help to boost the digital media industry of Pakistan. Fawad Khan disclosed the details of the University at the National Media Workshop that took place at National Defense University, Islamabad. He also emphasized that the University will provide skills related to the digital field such as cinematography, animation, film-making, and visual effects.

Speaking at the ceremony the Federal Information Minister also stressed that in today’s world wars can only be won through digital media. He also said that there are over 1500 internships being provided in the media industry to equip the youth with the skill-set needed in today’s world. The University is expected to be inaugurated on the 14th of August this year in Islamabad.
The Digital Media University is one of the steps being taken to digitize the media industry. The government has recently launched the Digital Media Advertising Policy to help streamline the government’s framework to educate the masses and help provide awareness to the citizens of Pakistan.
