Nestlé Pakistan on a Mission to Save the Environment – Introduces Paper Straws in Pakistan

In a bid to save the environment, the Pakistani food company, Nestlé Pakistan announced that its entire ready-to-drink (RTD) range will now be equipped with paper straws instead of plastic straws. This being a major development in promoting sustainable packaging and will help eliminate 400 million plastic straws in Pakistan!

It is worth mentioning that Nestlé Pakistan has been actively involved in making its packaging sustainable. The company aims to make its packaging completely recyclable by the year 2025. All the brands under Nestlé  Pakistan including NESVITA, MILO®, FRUITAVITALS, NESFRUTA, and NESCAFÉ’s will all be providing paper straws along with their packaging which will be made from Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified paper.

The Chief Executive Officer of Nestlé Pakistan, Samer Chedid, commented on the development,

“We have introduced paper straws across our RTD products. That have been sourced responsibly, meet stringent quality requirements and are safe to drink from.”

Chedid further elaborated, “Plastic packaging plays an important role in safely delivering high quality food and drinks to consumers and reducing food loss and waste.”

“We believe that with the right approach. Collection and recycling of plastic is possible without causing a detrimental effect on the environment,” he added.

Nestlé Pakistan is a Pakistani food company that is a subsidiary of Swiss multinational company Nestlé. Nestlé Pakistan has been actively involved in environmental sustainability projects.  They have a mission to continue their operations. At the same time to be reflective of the environment around them and eventually operate with “zero impact” on the environment.
