Millions Affected After GoDaddy’s Security Breach

Not a good day for the web world as GoDaddy reported a data breach of up to 1.2 million active and inactive Managed WordPress customers as their data got exposed. The incident was discovered on November 17 when GoDaddy was accessed after their password was compromised.

GoDaddy’s chief information security officer Demetrius Comes reported to the Securities and Exchange Commission that there was unauthorized access detected where the web company hosts and manages its customers’ WordPress servers. GoDaddy has claimed that it has already reset the passwords and private keys. It is also in the process of issuing SSL certificates to users.

GoDaddy hosts more than 20 million customers globally. The event led to the company shares falling down by 1.6% in early trading.
