Islamabad zoo to be reopened soon

The Islamabad zoo was located in Islamabad capital territory. It was inaugurated in 1978, under the administration of Capital Development Authority (CDA) of Pakistan. On December 2020 Margazar zoo in Islamabad was closed by high court due to ill treatment of animals.

The chairperson Islamabad Wildlife Management Board (IWMB) with Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) visited the old zoo at islamabad and discussed for its revival. The future plans of funding Marghaza zoo have been made with the aim of bringing revival with more interactivity.

There is a plan to have animatronic models of animals, a visual gallery, and informative 3D shows for engaging the public and informing them about the wildlife and the need to preserve their freedom.

The Islamabad Wildlife Management Board (IWMB) took administrative control of the zoo on June 24, 2021. The recent meeting of chairman IWMB and chairperson CDA hopes for the revival of Islamabad Zoo with interactive visual gallery, animatronic models of animals and 3D shows to increase public interest and helps in revival.

A meeting has been scheduled on Friday at CDA headquarters for future planning and discussions, the core target of the meeting is to focus on construction and development work in order to revive the zoo with latest equipment’s to revive the zoo without keeping any live animals for display.
