In a bid to provide skills to farmers the Engro Corporation along with The Punjab Skill Development Fund (PSDF) have recently signed a collaboration under the “Parwaaz Agriculture And Foods Skills Incubator”. A Skilling Program will be designed by subject matter experts which will comprise a curriculum. This will teach modern farming techniques to the workforce. The contents of the curriculum will be well-aligned with advanced digital systems.
Digitalizing the current agricultural setup in Pakistan will help to boost crop yield and generate high income for farmers. The Engro Corporation will be responsible for developing the curriculum for the program. Whereas, Parwaaz will be funding the project and providing support to Engro to help and facilitate the graduates of this program, diversify their network and create job opportunities for them.
The CEO of PSDF, Jawad Khan commented in this regard,

Agriculture shapes the largest sector of the Pakistani economy. Hence, the majority of the population in Pakistan is either directly or indirectly dependent on this sector. Moreover, it contributes about 24% of the GDP and accounts for more than half of the employed labor workforce. Digitalizing the agriculture sector is crucial to the economy and the people of Pakistan.
