Pakistans biggest e-commerce platform, Daraz, recently held its annual Seller Summit in Karachi on the 26th of September. The virtual summit was attended by more than 100, 000 sellers from all over Pakistan.

The CEO Daraz, Bjarke Mikkelsen, took the opportunity to state that regardless of the challenges faced by online sellers during the pandemic Daraz has come out strong and has served as a great platform for online sellers to help them scale their businesses. He also thanked the Pakistani government that made operating in Pakistan during the pandemic extremely smooth.
“We have been working hand-in-hand with the government to ensure that there is both a legislative and taxation framework that will allow the e-commerce industry to flourish.”
He also added that Daraz sellers also took the challenges of the pandemic and shaped it into something more productive. They managed to build customer trust and enhance their experiences to improve the product quality and their overall customer interaction also improved.
Mr. Mikkelsen also spoke on how Daraz will be working to further improve the customer experience,
“The first initiative will focus on making seller statements more transparent and payments faster. Secondly, we will put a greater emphasis on providing access to tools that will allow sellers to scale their business, and finally, we want to improve the returns process to ensure no unnecessary cost burden is carried by the seller.”
As Pakistan’s e-commerce landscape continues to grow Daraz has facilitated its sellers with several features such as reducing the payment cycle from 14 to 7 days. The sign-up process has also been speeded up. Whereas, the establishment of Daraz University was another leap forward.
