According to the Chinese state media, China has successfully delivered to Pakistan the largest and most advanced warship according to Chinese standards. Global Times reported that the ship which was was designed and built by China State Shipbuilding Corporation Limited (CSSC) and was delivered to the Pakistan Navy at a ceremony in Shanghai.

A statement was sent by the Pakistan Navy to Global Times regarding the details of the frigate. The Type 054A/P frigate named the PNS Tughril is the first hull of four Type 054 frigates being constructed for the Pakistan Navy. The ship is equipped with the latest technological features. It not only provides extensive surveillance potentials but also enormous surface-to-surface, surface-to-air, and underwater firepower.

The Type 054A/P frigate is also equipped with state-of-the-art combat management and an electronic warfare system along with modern self-defense capabilities. It can also execute a number of naval warfare missions in a highly intense multi-threat environment.
