The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has granted a license to a private airline by the name of “North Air”. The airline was launched in Pakistan to boost tourism specifically in the Northern region of Pakistan. The cities that fall under the plan are Gilgit, Skardu, Chitral, and Gwadar.
The private airline has its office at the New Islamabad Airport. Initially, the airline is planned to operate from Islamabad to Gilgit, Skardu, Chitral, and Gwadar.
The National Carrier, PIA, has also announced flight operations from Lahore to the Northern areas. The first direct flight took 153 passengers from Lahore to Skardu last week. There will be two flights that will operate on a weekly basis from Karachi to Skardu to promote tourism.
